Work with Me!

Amazing things are happening in 2015! Are you ready? I know I am!
Since I am expecting a new baby this year, I will not be doing any group workshops or one on one coaching.  I have been working really hard on a new way to deliver the workshop information to you that will be even more affordable and you can work at your own pace.
How is that for a WIN/WIN!

Start with the first step, Identifying your Ideal Client.

This guide here is the first in a series to get you started on creating your dream business as a Money Making Makeup Artist!

TEXTMake sure you are on my email list to be kept in the loop updates on new products, workshops and coaching dates. Thanks!

Are you sick of slaving away at a makeup counter?

  • Do you long to do editorial and commercial work that pays the big bucks?
  • Would you like to create your own schedule?
  • Do you want the freedom to be more creative as a makeup artist working with your ideal clients?

Your passion for beauty doesn’t have to be a hobby, it can be a profitable business. You can earn money, doing what you love, and I want to teach you how I did it!

Want some insight into my background and what inspired me to create this resource?

Learn how I took my skills as a stylist and makeup artist and built a business of my own in multiple states! I want to share with you what I’ve learned through my trials and errors, so I’ve created the ultimate guide to establish your career as a money making makeup artist.

This is for you if:

  • You love makeup, beauty and style and want to create a sustainable business.
  • You are a skilled and experienced stylist or makeup artist. You are confident in your skills.
  • Enjoy your business instead of scrambling for clients or toiling away at a department store counter.
  • You are ready to create your own hours and take as many (or as few) jobs as you want and get paid well for it?
  • You are ready to dig into the life of an entrepreneur and create a business.
  • You want to be the one responsible for creating the experience for your client from start to finish.
  • You manage your time well and you are organized.

This is NOT for you if:

  • You are not confident in your skills as a stylist or artist.
  • Are more into excuses than making it happen.
  • You are not ready to do the work that it takes to build a business.
  • You are not organized or if you do not communicate well.
  • You want a set schedule or a set amount of income each month.
  • You do not enjoy adapting to new people or situations.

If you have any questions or concerns, email me at emily@moneymakingmakeupartist.com. Make sure to sign up for the email list, so you can stay in loop for any special offers that we have coming up.

  4. Hey Emily! I love your posts. If any of your workshop attendees are looking to build their portfolio, please feel free to send along to me. As a women’s portrait photographer, I’d love to help your peeps build quality portfolios and meet some of your awesome peeps.

    • Great! Thanks Sara. That gives me an idea, maybe we should keep an ongoing list of photographers who would like to work with artist building portfolios.

      • Hi Emily

I love the beauty world. I am not only a makeup artist but I studied skin care and have been licensed. I have done a few makeup to some of my friends and family . Also a few brides but I can’t seem to get a grip in putting my business together. Can you help ?

  5. hi Emily, i live in south africa, i am yet to choose a career but i love makeup and beauty stuffs, i am seriously considering enrolling in a makeup institute but the only setback is, it seems as if makeup artists in my country do not make alot of money, i really need your advice.

    • Hi Elle! Find the most successful makeup artists in your area and volunteer to assist them. You will get so much free training in exchange for your time. Find artists you admire and build a relationship with them. They will be able to give you advice that is perfect for the area you are working in. Start there before you invest in money into a makeup institute. Make sure to add yourself to the email list, I send you tons of free tidbits too! I hope to see you in the Fall workshop and I look forward to seeing your business grow.

  6. I would really like to work with youu! Youu seem like the perfect mentor. Please get back to me with as many details as possible about the program! Thanks in advance!

  17. Hi there! I’m really interested in your programme, however I live and work in Dubai, UAE, so I just wanted to ask, is the bootcamp aimed at MUA’s in the US or is it international?

I ask because out here we don’t have a makeup artist community, or half of the trade benefits that MUA’s have in the US, UK etc., so I want to be sure the course will be relevant with that in mind. (The lack of community is obviously something I’m attempting to change out here because it’s important to me, but it’s just not available currently.)

I look forward to hearing from you!
    Kind regards,
    Kathyn

    • Hey Kathryn! The program began focused on the US market. It is based on my experience building my own business, which is in the US. Most of the content is universal and would apply to any market, with the exception of the legal and tax specific topics. You would need to advise a legal/tax professional in your area on that, but that is the case for US artists too. I am going to email you more info!

    • The program is based on my experience in building my own business in 4 states, here in the US. Most of that information can be applied wherever you are located. The information regarding legal and tax issues would be specific to where you live but that is also the case with US participants. I am following up with you via email now! Thanks!

  26. Hi Emily,

I am a MUA specializing in the use of toxin free, chemical free, and cruelty free cosmetics. Would you say that most of what you share applies? Have you worked 1-1 with any solely “green” artists?

    • Hey Gina! What I offer totally applies to you as a green artist. The content that I cover is focused on building a business and client base that is unique to what you have to offer. I have not worked 1-1 with 100% green artists but I am familiar with many green artist and bloggers that I follow and are buddies with thru my blogger group. Contact me via email for more info on mentoring!

  27. Hi Emily,
I just ran into your website and wow! Amazing! I am still very young but have big dreams! (17 years old). I am hoping to go into cosmetology and do hair and make up. I really want to have a successful business and expand! Once I get my schooling done and get the experience I need will these workshops be online? Is there an age limit on these workshops? I would love to learn as much as I can so I can make my dreams come true! When I am experienced I hope to work with you and have you further my knowledge on being a make up artist! Thanks!

    • Congratulations Leticia!!!!! I am so proud of you for knowing that you want to be part of the beauty industry, it is so rewarding! There is no age limit here. I am not currently booking any workshops but I am taking on one on one clients so let me know if you want more information on that. Emily

    • Hi Merissa! Sign up for the email list by putting your name and email address and I will send you email updates and the list of kit basics.

  29. I am curious which blogging and site-building platform you are using? I’m new to running a blog and have been thinking about using the Vox platform. Do you consider this is a good foundation to start with? I would be very grateful if I could ask you some questions through e-mail so I can learn a bit more prior to getting started. When you have some free time, please be sure to get in touch with me at: danuta.bautista@gmail.com. Thank you

    • I am on wordpres, for both of my blogs and Squarespace for emilyhudspeth.com. I have used blogger and some other platforms over the years.
